EDIVAL RAMOSA
EDIVAL RAMOSA WAS BORN IN BRAZIL IN 1940. WHILE STATIONED AT THE SUEZ CANAL, HE VISITED VARIOUS EUROPEAN CITIES, SETTLING IN MILAN FROM 1964 TO 1974 WHERE HE FREQUENTED THE STUDIOS OF ARNALDO POMODORO, LUCIO FONTANA AND ENRICO BAJ. FROM1969 TO 1973 HE WORKED ALONG WITH 49 OTHER NOTED ITALIAN AND FOREIGN ARTISTS INCLUDING BAJ AND MAN RAY IN THE POLIMERO ARTE LABORATORIES OFFERED BY MAZZUCCHELLI 1849 SPA, TO CREATE ART MADE FROM PLASTIC MATERIAL. (THESE WORKS ARE NOW ON PERMANENT EXHIBIT IN THE MAP MUSEO ARTE PLASTICA IN THE CASTIGLIONI DI MONTERUZZO, VARESE, WHICH OPENED IN 2004.) RAMOSA HAS HELD MANY INDIVIDUAL SHOWS IN ITALY, HIS NATIVE BRAZIL AND AUSTRALIA. IN SEPTEMBER 2000 HE HELD AN EXHIBIT OF PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURES TITLED “IMITAÇÕES RITUAIS INDÍGENAS” AT THE OFICINA DE ARTE MARIA TERESA VIEIRA, RIO DE JANEIRO. UPON HIS RETURN TO BRAZIL, HE OPENED HIS STUDIO IN RIO DE JANEIRO. HE HAS LIVED IN SAO PAOLO SINCE 1980. |
